01 Feb Seasonal Depression: How To Detect It & What You Can Do About It
Although Toronto has been pretty blessed when it comes to our winter so far, you can never get too comfortable. February is when sh*t gets real outside. It’s when you seriously starting questioning why we even bother living this north of the equator. It’s that cold that eats at your bones and makes you think that maybe George R.R. Martin was up to something by creating a wall between civilization and the cold, Wildlings aside.
Have you ever gotten to the mid-February mark where you feel your energy is drained and you don’t want to leave your bed, much less the house for anything. Your arms feel heavy. Your legs, even heavier. You don’t want to socialize and you much rather spend the hours sleeping away in dreamland. This sounds like something we all go through, but when you’re feeling this down for a long period of time, there’s a chance you could be suffering from seasonal depression.
Our friends at Physiomed has provided us with some symptoms that may be signs of seasonal depression:
· Low energy
· Lost interest in enjoyable activities
· Appetite changes
· Weight gain
· Thoughts of death/suicide
· Changes in sleep patterns
Not to say that if you are experiencing these you are seasonally depressed, and if you are, it doesn’t exactly mean you’ll be experiencing all of the above symptoms.
