UFC 200: Conor McGregor Fiasco

UFC 200 has been filled with drama and controversy. Let’s start off with the original headline of the highly anticipated rematch of Conor McGregor vs Nate Diaz II. It was set in stone until April 19th ; that is when everything changed. In a sudden turn of events, McGregor went on social media tweeting his suppose retirement. The internet went wild and questions had flared up whether this announcement was true or not. As the days went by more stories started piling up on the retirement of Conor McGregor. And it was McGregor who aired out another tweet stating that he is no longer interested in fighting due to media responsibilities. McGregor was scheduled to fly out to Vegas for public conferencing of UFC 200. He did not show up.

This has led UFC President Dana White to remove McGregor from the card replacing the bout with another thrilling rematch of Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier. Dana has released a statement stating that due to McGregor violating his contract he has no choice but to remove him from the card. Many sports critics were in favor of Dana’s decision as he made the right choice demonstrating to the world that no fighter is going to control him in his decision making of running the organization and if any fighter breaches their contract, even if they are the biggest name in the fighting industry, they will pay for their own consequences.

It was also reported that if another McGregor and Nate Diaz bout were to happen, their fight would generate over 40 million dollars which could potentially be the highest revenue earning in UFC history.

Although tensions between the UFC and McGregor has cooled down, Dana commented on McGregor’s next schedules fight stating that the bout with McGregor and Diaz will happen and will most likely happen after UFC 200. McGregor reacted to Dana comments on Twitter saying that UFC 200 is nothing without him and the organization is making a huge mistake leaving him out of the card.

Just last week, rumors have circulated of a potential super fight for the ages and probably the biggest fight of all time. Yes we said it, ‘The biggest fight of all time’. Many sports media outlets are reporting a fight of the biggest name in boxing history Floyd “Money” Mayweather versus “The Notorious” Conor McGregor.

Floyd Mayweather went on social media reporting that it’s no rumor. The talks about the fight is real and they are close to making a deal. McGregor also took to social media posting a picture of the two standing face to face to stir up more hype for this potential greatest fighting match of all time.
