Toronto Beer Week

Toronto Beer Week began September 18th and will continue thru Sept 26th. With new events every day, who can complain about an excuse to grab a cold one after work? DoUKnow has got your list of top events to check out this week before this heavenly event comes to a close.

Hidden Beer, Booze & BBQ Walking Tour

This is an interesting way to try different craft beers brewed right in your backyard.  Aside from the fact that the tour starts off at a pretty shady Coffee Time (aren’t they all kind of shady?), this tour will bring you to two local breweries nestled into the Junction/Stockyards area.  With a pit stop at a BBQ food truck, your day will be set. Beer and BBQ!? Yes, please!

Comedy on College & Craft Beer

Pour Boy has added to their weekly free comedy show by offering free craft beer samples beginning at 6pm.  The bar is also known for their cheap eats and 2 oz cocktails, just in case the company you keep isn’t a fan of beer. At that point, you should probably reevaluate your friendship.  The show starts at 8pm, which gives you two hours of sampling the good stuff.

Vinyl Nite

Who doesn’t love great music paired with your favourite brew?  This event is held at The Monarch Tavern, tucked in on Clinton St. just south of College St.  Unlike other events going on this week, this one has an interesting twist.  Pints are $6 each, however, if you want to jam out to your own records, bring them in and your pint goes down to $4. Nothing to complain about when you get cheaper beer for bringing in your own music to jam out to.

Lansdowne: Beer & Food Pairing Specials

This event runs for both September 22 & 23, but by Wednesday who actually wants to cook dinner?  The Lansdowne Brewery helps you pair the right beer to your food of choice. Now we can be fancy like all those wine drinkers with their cheese and grapes. The brewery is also offering food and beer pairings at a promotional rate so you could have the whole experience without damaging your wallet.

Golden Tap Awards

Not a fan of the Emmy’s? Maybe this is your kind of award ceremony.  The doors open at Beerbistro at 5pm, with free beer samples of all beers available and ‘one-of-a-kind’ cuisine to pair.  There are 17 categories that have been voted by the public, with no nominees selected.  Voters choose their select beer per category, giving each brewer a fair opportunity.

Flight Special: World Tour of Toronto

This event is running throughout the whole 10-day event.  Hosted by Porter House, a vegan pub on Dundas St West just between Dufferin Street and Dovercourt Road.  The restaurant is offering four 5oz samples of exclusively Toronto beer for just $10.  And if you’re heading there after work, don’t be shy about the meatless menu.  Porter House offers a range of comfort vegan food, so no one will be leaving hungry.

Queen Street East Beer Hike

This event is run similar to that ‘pub crawl’ you did in first year when you thought you’d make it to all 10 bars without any difficulty, however, the Queen Street East Beer Hike only stops at 5 different establishments to help you keep it classier this time around.  The free event begins at Prohibition Gastrohouse near Queen Street and Broadview Ave. (FYI: They have some of the best nachos in the city). The guide will then take you to HI-LO, Brooklyn Tavern and Ceili Cottage.  The fifth stop is a surprise but each one will have different local craft beers to sample as well as prizes to be won at each bar.

Brewery Bingo

Beer? Bingo? Prizes? Seems like a pretty good combination if you ask me.  Junction Brewery will be hosting a night of bingo and brews from 7-9pm.  Seats are available on a first come, first serve basis so we suggest getting there early.  Each game is $1 but for $5 you can play 9 games and increase your chances for one of the amazing prizes.

GLB Sampling

Factory Girl on the Danforth will be hosting this free entry event beginning at 5:30pm.  Free samples of Great Lakes Brewery craft beer will be provided alongside a dinner menu.  A representative from GLB will be there to provide tasting notes and suggest pairings for the samples offered.  The restaurant offers a variety of eats including gourmet pizzas, pastas and some interesting entrees.

3rd Annual Pyjama Party

Sauce is hosting its third annual Pyjama Party this year from 8pm running all the way through 4am.  We’ve all been through the Friday night struggle of to get ready or to not get ready.  Sauce gives you the best of both worlds. The east end bar invites their guests to come by in their PJ’s for a comfy night of beer, movies and prizes! Sauce offers several local brews that will be on special for the evening.

The Society of Beer Drinking Ladies – Bevy 0020

The Society of Beer Drinking Ladies has hosting its 20th Bevy this Friday.  The organization holds a Bevy every last Friday of the month.  The location will be released to ticket holders two days before the event.  SOBDL supports locally brewed craft beer and also have a monthly brew exclusive to those who attend the monthly event. This is an awesome event to learn more about local breweries, tips on at home brewing and enjoy some classic pub food provided by the Jester on Yonge.

Rap Haus

Rap. Hip Hop. Funk. Soul. And 16 Ontario craft beers. Now for those of you who want to enjoy your local brews while breaking it down on the dancefloor, 3030 is the place you’ll want to be.  Presented by DJ Zane.  No cover all night.

Mill Street Oktoberfest Party

End your ale-filled week in the Distillery District with a bang! Mill Street Brew Pub will be hosting this ticketed event starting at 5pm on Saturday.  Each ticket includes entry to the pub, a commemorative Mill St Stein, 3 beer tokens and extra party favours.  Sticking with the Oktoberfest theme, there will traditional food stations complete with a Bavarian menu and live entertainment. Enjoy some polka dancing, live music, Bavarian dancers and so much more!

Ribfest 2015

If you’ve missed the other Ribfests that have happened already it’s not too late.  Beau’s All Natural Brewery presents this event hosted at The Cloak & Dagger. Get your fill of baby back full and half racks and Korean style short ribs! Sides will be available alongside 6 of Beau’s one-off brews to try out!

We the West: A Black Oak Brewery Bash

As a grand finale to Toronto Beer Week, Black Oak Brewery will be hosting one of their brewery bashes starting at 5pm.  The brewery has been known to throw a bash every once and while and, to be honest, after checking out their Facebook page, I don’t blame them! Good crowd, good beer and good food. Tickets are $10 which includes three free beers and any extra lubrication you need is $6 a pint.  Food will be provided by PaintBox Bistro.
